By George, Nevada may not be destined for a Final Four run after all. So do the Lobos have a shot at MWC tournament?

They call it March Madness for a reason. As the MWC season winds down, Nevada no longer appears to be the powerhouse juggernaut destined to make a Final Four run. So do the Lobos have a puncher’s chance in Las Vegas next month? Well, let’s see: We have the talent, length and experience, even if we haven’t consistently put it together yet. We shocked the country and blew out Nevada in the Pit. We beat San Diego State, which beat Nevada last week. Fresno State then took Nevada to the wire this past Saturday night before Fresno State blinked and allowed Nevada to escape their own arena with a victory they probably should have lost.
The fact that Nevada, once the feared bullies on the block, suddenly seem so very vulnerable their past two games, tells me the MWC tournament is wide open. Can the Lobos get hot, catch lightning in a bottle and win out in Vegas? I’ll venture to say a definite………maybe, but so can the other top five teams in the league. It’s going to be fun to watch it all shake out as we embark on another March Madness.
