The 2018  Galles Chevrolet Metro Football Player of the Year will be released by Enchantment Sports on Friday (Dec. 7) evening.

There have been many outstanding football players in the Albuquerque’s metro area this season, and all players from Belen to to Rio Rancho are eligible – regardless of classification.

Enchantment Sports, with the help of ProView Networks, has awarded a Galles Chevrolet Metor Player of the Week each week of the prep football season. The winner of the yearly award will not necessarily come from that list.

We will also consider your choice. Email

Is the award based on the best yearly performance?

Is it based on the most valuable player to his team, and how much success the team had?

Just like MVP awards in professional sports or college football’s Heisman Trophy, it can be a combination.

The 2018 weekly winners:

Week 14 — Mikey Montoya, Los Lunas, senior safety

Week 13 — Jake Deatherage, Volcano Vista, senior quarterback

Week 12: Manny Sanchez-Vargas, Valley, senior quarterback

Week 11 — Isaiah Ortiz, Del Norte, sophomore running back

Week 10 — Derek Rivera, St. Pius, junior quarterback

Week 9 — Marcus Steele, Cibola, senior quarterback

Week 8 — Jeff Davison, Cleveland, sophomore quarterback

Week 7 — Isaiah Chavez, Rio Rancho, junior quarterback
