BOXING: Torres gets a different Rodriguez than scheduled

Albuquerque welterweight Josh Torres (18-6-2, 10 KOs) takes on last-minute replacement Jesus Alvarez Rodriquez (15-5, 11 KOs), from Mexico, at the Expo Explosion 2 card on Saturday (Dec. 1) at Ramada Plaza.

Torres was slated to take on Mohammed Rodriquez, no relation to Jesus, Mohammed pulled out due to a shoulder injury. Torres will seek to continue a great 2018 after beating Cristian Cabral in June for the New Mexico State welterweight title.

The six-fight card begins at 6 p.m.

The Torres/Rodriquez main event will headline the card. In the co-main event, Joe Gomez (21-7-1, 10 KOs) battles Moris Rodriquez (7-11-1 5 KOs).

Other bouts are: Matthew Esquibel (10-0-1, 5 KOs) vs. Ricardo Fernandez (3-10-4); Jose Luis Sanchez (7-1, 3 KOs) vs. Anthony Hill (1-20); Lorenzo Benevidez (0-1) vs. Michael Sanchez (2-2, 2 KOs); Jamie Aguilar (pro debut) vs. Levi Lucero (0-2).
