Galles Metro Player of the Week: Jeff Davison

If someone told you that a Cleveland High School football player had six touchdowns in one game last week, you would likely think superstar running back “Dorian Lewis did it again!”

And you would be wrong.

While Lewis scored five touchdowns (and rushed for more than 400 yards) earlier this season, he wasn’t the Storm’s main weapon during their 52-15 rout of Cibola last week. This time, it was sophomore quarterback Jeff Davison with the monster game, and he is the Enchantment Sports / Galles Chevrolet Metro Player of the Week.

On Thursday, Davison threw for 425 yards and six touchdowns as Cleveland ran its record to 6-0.

EnchantmentSports.com spoke with Davison this week about his huge performance and like a true leader, he took none of the accolades for himself. Instead he spread it to his teammates.

“The lineman has a big part of this week’s game and award,” says Davison. “They gave me all the time I needed to do what I was able to do. I did my best for them.”

Well, Cleveland has been known for its running game this year, Jeff. Did you have any idea you were going to toss six touchdowns last week?

“Coach says we are going to pass more often every game,” Davison said. “But running or passing, it doesn’t matter to us as a team. We just want to win.”

Six touchdowns in a game is quite an accomplishment.

“I can’t take credit,” Davison said. “Coach Ridenour and the staff put us in the best spot to perform day in and day out, my receivers got open and I found them.”

Well, Jeff, you may not take the credit. But on behalf of Galles Chevrolet and Enchantment Sports, we’re going to give you a bunch. And we enjoyed honoring such a humble player, who deflects all the credit to coaches, receivers, and the offensive line.

Congratulations.
