University of New Mexico Lobo basketball transfer JaQuan Lyle has suffered a season-ending injury.

According to UNM:

Redshirt-junior and Ohio State transfer JaQuan Lyle suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon on Saturday afternoon at practice. He is scheduled for surgery this week. The anticipated recovery time is six months, therefore he is expected to miss the upcoming 2018-19 season. Please see below for quotes from Coach Paul Weir and JaQuan Lyle.

Coach Weir:

“JaQuan has meant so much to our program in the short time he has been here. Unfortunately this injury postpones his return to playing the game he loves. But his spirits have already turned incredibly positive and we look forward to supporting him in every way possible.”

JaQuan Lyle:

“I am going into this process trying to get 1% better every day, both physically and mentally, to be ready to compete next season. I am so thankful to everyone for their thoughts and considerations. Go Lobos!”
