No trip to Las Cruces for a Lobo Aggie game would be complete without some harsh words exchanged. Unfortunately for me, it was off the field and I had to look for the men’s room which turned out to be an adventure.
You see, I had to go halfway across the stadium, through the student section to get to the “goal” and it included some kids that couldn’t wait to drop some “F” bombs on me while trying to steal my cap. Nice to have a snappy comeback. Oh, the game? That turned out to be a 42-25 Lobo victory, complete with the fight song, “Hail, New Mexico” echoing throughout Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Early the game looked to be another Aggie victory, which would have been three in a row, but, the newcomers to this rivalry, punter Tyson Dyer (No. 96 )and safety Marcus Hayes (No. 23), who was featured just last week on The Cherry and Silver report and became the MWC Defensive Player of the week for his two interceptions against the rival Aggies, would have none of it. I started an interview with center Kyle Stapley (No. 64), but, my video recorder had other ideas. Enjoy a minute or so of Kyle and look forward to part two next week.
The Lobos play “Bye” this weekend and I look forward to Homecoming at UNM the weekend of September 28-30. The theme this year is “WolfStock;” three days of Peace, Love and Lobos! It surely will beat the vibe in Las Cruces, except for the win!
